Updated: 12/2/2013 - Exclusive pics & vids of new Nerf 2013 + Info @NYC Toy Fair 2013!


Some good friends are giving us the heads up from New York Toy Fair 2013, so stay tuned for some hot pics!

Hit refresh as I get the pics and prepare to hit you with some info on the blasters themselves from my own hands on experience!

It would appear that many of the blasters I played with are missing from the New York Toy Fair - i'm hoping contacts there can do a thorough job of checking Nerf stand out. I'm going to hold-fire on releasing info on accessories and other news my NDA prevents me from speaking about. I appreciate your patience with me on this, I will not disappoint.



Feb 12/03/2013: Exclusive info: Inspired by Fan feedback and Mods - The new Vortex XLR Discs offer Trick Shots and allow fans to further customise the blaster to your style of play.
You could have the same 5 Vortex blasters but all completely behave differently due to the different Trick Shot discs (XLR Quickshot, XLR Sidewinder, XLR Ranger+++). Can't say any more than that right now.

Comment from Foam From Above: (out of position) supposedly you load the discs through here. Honestly, I tried to find the latch to release it, and couldn't find anything. Even the rep told me the drum was not removable. Remember, this is a prototype (hence, no firing video) and and we'll have to wait and see what the production model is like.

The costing for the Appteractive accessory will be retailed around $19.99, the Barrel Xbow should be $25.00 and Heartbreaker at $20.00 - the software is completely free to download and operate thereafter.

I will be posting up my notes and answers from my interview at London Toy Fair 2013. I need to check my NDA before I name the larger sister to the small Xross shot. The Rebelle bow is the staple line in the range, and the mechanism works with a primer like regular N-Strike/Elite blasters, however like the movie Hunger Games, there is an option to prime the bow, for a 1off extended range shot. Something budding archers can look forward to. A "sniper" if you will. The other blasters they have not shown take advantage of this mechanism which gives Rebelle a uniqueness. Accessories - some were shown here, but I need to confirm my NDA before I speak about the others. Rebelle takes a range of collectible coloured Dart Tags that work on the various jerseys. We will *not* see any new DT as previously confirmed.
 The new Vortex Revonix360 is a fantastic semi auto blaster. With the ability to fire TWO discs at once, it really fits a missing mark in the Vortex range as we know it. A smaller cousin to the vortex Pyragon, it's ability to load-fast and dish out a hail of discs is something all fans will welcome - at almost half the price of a regular Vortex Pyragon. It has the regular slam-fire and uses Diatron mechanics for single discharge. the rest I cannot disclose. NDA. (I'm really hating this now).

Several mods inspired engineers to take a deeper look into Vortex - they found that what modders had created coupled with fan feedback did NOT fit into the Vortex OR N-Strike range. Thus you fans created an all new Sub-Range. My NDA currently prevents me from naming it or discussing the actual internals they (or you!) have created. I hope to address this by Monday morning and then give you all the low down. Raise your hand if you hate NDAs?

One of Hasbro's plans for all the new ranges, is to make them affordable and within reach for all customers. This works in their favour a) lets face it - they make more money b) fans get to experience everything and take it home at the end of the day and c) this opens up more feedback and more modding for the NIC to help shape next gen Nerf.

NDAs do suck, not sold on the flames and spaltter designs on the vortex stuff. curious that there is no nitron on the wall with the rest of the vortex line. very interesting that the big bow goes back to the large arrows and the heart breaker shoots regular darts. my review to follow on my site. love all the work my last dart.

  8. I'm real excited on the revamped Vortex line but not sold on the 'flame' design.

    Also on the box art of the repainted Vortex blastersit shows something like exclusive-coloured discs for each of the blasters. Diatron looks to have black discs, Proton with blue discs and Praxis/Revonix with orange discs, and Pyragon with green discs.

  9. the rebelle crossbow is a reshelled strongarm, yeah they totally built up the line from ground. plus the handbow is pretty much a firestrike.

    1. As far as a brand like Nerf is concerned a reshell is building something from the ground up. I'd agree with you if it was just a strong arm repaint. Plus the internals are slightly different for the crossbow as it primes from the bottom not from the top.

    3. I was kind of hoping that the crossbow system would be fired in similar fashion to a crossbow instead of what looks like a similar system a hybrid of the rough cut/strong arm. Albiet, it is rather hard to tell if the crossbow's string does have some sort of role, as in the photos, it does look like it's hooked up to something, but in the video it looks like it doesn't play any role in the firing of the dart. It's hard to tell.

      What I am amazed with is the Vortex blaster. Have you seen the internals for this one yet? I'm curious as to how they turn the discs over since they seem to be loaded on their side instead of flat like every other vortex blaster.

  13. i dont know if any one realisted but at 2.19sec as the camera pans over to follow the vortex disks the rep shoots to the other side of the room in the toyspy video you can see the 3 new secret eliet blasterblasters.

    It look like a eliet longshot with new stock section.

    and 2 smaller blasters that i cant make out that might just be the same blaster but hanged up from both sides.

    and then a boxy looking blaster kinda like a cut down volcan.

  21. Okay, so you know how you said (not here, in some other post) some of the new gear will be good because it'll keep out tactical rails free? Well I have a theory, and I know you'll probably get NDA'd but if you know that I'm wrong (and you can tell me as much) it'd be good to know.
    So you know how there's no top rail accessories yet (except the pinpoint sight, which is really just a promotional tool)? Well what if Hasbro are planning to unveil something they've done with Lazer Tag and now Rebelle, what if they're bring in the smartphone based HUD system to N-strike Elite?
    Speaking of which, does anyone know if the Rebelle system can even tell when you take a hit or if you have to manually tell it that you go blasted?
